Volume on the ring, play in the middle

The main control is a ring of sixty ticks. Drag around it to set the level; tap the center to start or stop. It is big enough to find in the dark, and it does one thing well rather than hiding five things behind menus you have to read at midnight.

Rain, fans, noise, rooms and bodies

Light rain on a windowsill, rain on a tent, a box fan, an air conditioner, a clothes dryer, brown, pink and white noise, ocean waves, an airplane cabin at cruising altitude, a resting heartbeat and more. Every sound is bundled with the app, so it plays with no connection and nothing is streamed.

Build the room you actually sleep in

Layer up to four sounds, each at its own level — a fan under light rain, brown noise under a heartbeat — and save the result as a mix. Mixes stay on your phone and start with one tap from the Sounds tab or the player.

Stops on time, fades on the way out

Choose a stop time from fifteen minutes to eight hours, or “until my alarm”. The fade-out walks the volume down over the last one, two or ten minutes, so the silence at the end is not the thing that wakes you.

A reminder, and a sound that is already playing

Set a bedtime and Lull sends one gentle reminder to wind down. Turn on auto-play and opening the app within the hour and a half after bedtime starts your last sound without a single tap.

Keeps playing when the screen goes dark

Sound carries on with the phone locked, with play and pause on the lock screen and in Control Center or the notification shade. On iPhone it plays through AirPlay speakers too. If you would rather it stopped when you lock the phone, that is one switch.

Play and pause from the Home Screen

The Home Screen widget shows what is playing on its own artwork, with a countdown and a play and pause control that works without opening the app. On iPhone there are Lock Screen widgets as well.

A red palette for a dark room

Bedside dim swaps the interface to deep reds so checking the timer does not light up the room or your eyes. Everything else stays exactly where it was.

Lull is free to download, with a set of free sounds that stay free, supported by advertising. Ads appear on the app’s own screens — never on the lock screen, never in a widget, and never as sound over what you are listening to once the phone is down.

Lull Premium is an annual or monthly subscription through the App Store or Google Play, with a free trial where one is offered. It unlocks the full library and removes all advertising. The price is shown before you subscribe, it renews automatically, and it can be cancelled any time in your store account settings.
