clip Privacy Policy

clip has no account and never asks who you are. The files you save stay on your device — they are downloaded straight from the source and never pass through our servers, so we never hold your library. We do receive the links you ask us to resolve, and we do not keep them alongside anything that identifies you. Apple processes purchases; ad partners process limited device data for free users, never for clip pro.
This Privacy Policy describes how Polari Group LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company (“Polari Group,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information in connection with clip, our media-saving app for iOS (the “App”). It covers only the App; our website at polarigroup.com and our other products are governed by their own policies.
clip is designed to work without an account. There is no sign-up, no profile, and no password. It is worth being precise about the one thing people most often assume: the media you save does not travel through us. Our service works out where a file lives and returns that address to your phone, which then downloads it directly from the source. We never receive the file, and we never hold a copy of your library.
No Account, No Identity
clip does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or a password. When you first open the App it creates an anonymous session so that requests can be rate-limited and a subscription can be recognised. That session is not linked to your real-world identity, and we make no attempt to determine who you are.
What Stays on Your Device
Everything you save — the video, photo, or audio file, its cover image, its title and author, and the engagement figures captured at the moment you saved it — is stored on your device and nowhere else. Your settings are stored on your device. There is no server copy of your library, no sync, and nothing for us to hand over, lose, or be compelled to produce.
Deleting an item removes it and its cover from your device. Deleting the App, or using “Clear everything” in Settings, removes the entire library. Because there is no account, none of it can be recovered.
Links You Ask Us to Resolve
When you ask clip to save something, the App sends that link to our service so we can work out what media the page publishes and at what qualities. We return that information — including the direct address of the file — to your phone, which does the downloading itself.
To answer the request our service fetches the page or the platform’s own public information for that post. Links are processed to answer the request in front of us and to enforce rate limits; we do not build a history of what you have saved, and we do not store a browsable record of your links alongside anything that identifies you. Ordinary server logs are retained briefly for security and diagnostics, as described below.
Your Clipboard
clip can tell you that a link is sitting on your clipboard without reading what it is: iOS reports only that a URL is present. The clipboard is not actually read until you tap to use it, which is the moment iOS shows you its own paste confirmation. clip does not monitor your clipboard in the background and never sends its contents anywhere except as part of a save you asked for.
Photos
If you turn on “Also save to Photos,” clip asks iOS for add-only permission to your photo library. Add-only means exactly that: clip can place a file you saved into Photos and cannot see, read, or search anything already there. We never receive the contents of your photo library.
Server Logs and Security
Our service runs on Google Cloud infrastructure. As with any internet service, requests generate standard log data — including an IP address, timestamps, and technical details of the request — which is retained for a limited period to operate the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose faults, and is then deleted or aggregated. Requests are rate-limited per session to keep the service available.
Purchases
clip pro is processed and verified by Apple through StoreKit. We receive the product and transaction status needed to unlock clip pro, associated with your anonymous session. We never receive your payment-card number or Apple Account password. Apple’s handling of purchase data is described in Apple’s own privacy policy.
Advertising and Consent
Free clip is supported by advertising; a clip pro subscription removes all ads. When ads are shown, Google Mobile Ads and mediated partners — Meta Audience Network, Unity Ads, ironSource, and Liftoff (Vungle) — may process advertising identifiers, coarse location, ad and product interactions, advertising data, and diagnostic or performance data for advertising, fraud prevention, and measurement. The links you save and the contents of your library are never shared with ad partners.
- Where regional privacy law requires it, a consent form is presented before any ad is loaded, and your choice is honored.
- You may be asked for tracking permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt; declining never limits what you can save.
- clip pro disables clip’s ad requests entirely.
We require service providers that receive data to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law. You can change tracking permission in iOS Settings at any time.
Age Eligibility
clip is intended for adults age 18 and older. The App is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because clip can be pointed at any link, what it saves is determined entirely by you, and some of it may not be suitable for minors. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data Retention
Your library is retained on your device until you delete it. Server log data is retained for a limited period and then deleted or aggregated. Apple retains purchase records under its own policies, and advertising partners apply their own retention rules to the data they process.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the rights to access, correct, or delete it. Because clip has no account and keeps your library on your device, in most cases we hold little or no personal information about you; the most effective controls are in your hands — delete an item, use “Clear everything,” or remove the App.
Residents of California have the rights provided by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, including the right to know, delete, and correct. We do not sell personal information. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have the rights provided by the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulations, including access, erasure, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email legal@polarigroup.com. Because we hold no identifying information, we may be unable to locate data about you, and we may need additional information to act on a request.
International Use
Polari Group is based in the United States, and our service runs on infrastructure located in the United States. If you use the App from elsewhere, information processed in connection with resolving links, purchases, or advertising may be handled in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, where data-protection laws may differ from those of your own.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date shown at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
